Design Hub offers users the ability to save their journey on Design Hub, therefore in order to save your journey we need to know your details, this means you can come back to Design Hub at a later stage and not start from the beginning, your saved designs can be viewed once sign in has happened in the ‘my designs’ tab.

Yes once your have registered you will be able to access Abacus, EBV and Silica Design Hub pages.

Yes you can. However please use the registration process to gain access to the complete Design Hub pages, we will in the background link your registration details to your existing company account if needed.

Yes you can. However the registration is separate for Americas, so you will need to re-register, plus you may find a slightly different experience with Americas Design Hub as the go to market approach is different for Americas compared to Europe.

Using Design Hub

Look for the ‘search reference designs’ search bar in the header and type in the search term you are looking for. This can either be a manufacturer, part number, application or technology.
The results will display a list of reference designs based on your search terms

Or click the reference designs tab - You will see the complete list of designs available, you can scroll down and view the thumbnail image and description to find a suitable designs or select from the category search located on the left of the screen to find a category suitable and apply filter, this will provide you a list of designs based on your category selection, simply scroll down the list and find a design suitable for your needs.

There are multiple things you can do, you can:

- Click on any of the highlighted part numbers within the parts list to show details on that part along with datasheet

- Click on the ‘modify with Avail’ text to open up our design tool where you can modify the design, and extract CAD files for your EDA tool from the design tool

- Click on ‘create BOM’ button where you will see all the parts listed in our BOM tool, within the BOM tool section you can

  • view alternatives and swap them into the design if needed
  • look at the parts datasheet
  • order prototype parts from our partners Farnell
  • check the health of the listed parts
  • request a high volume quote

- Click on the view reference design button, this is dependant on whether you are on Avnet Abacus, Avnet Silica or EBV, the list of parts shown completes the BOM for the reference design, clicking this button takes you through to the relevant Avnet Design Hub site dependant on reference design page.

Click on Design tools tab or select Avail from the drop down menu in the design tools tab

Here you will be able to learn more about the tool, there is also a quick start guide to aid you further if needed.

There are two ways to view your saved design, both require you to be signed in:

Click on my Designs tab within Design Hub, here you will see a list of your designs you have saved, simply find the design and click the Edit button to continue with your design.

Or - within the Avail design tool, click on designs, on the right hand side click the filter icon, click design type and select private then apply filter, your saved designs are shown here, simply find the design you want and select the edit button to continue with your design.

General questions

Design Hub is a platform aimed at the engineering community, the tool offers various functionality a list and short description of these are:

  • View reference designs - the designs are created by either our supplier partners or by Avnet’s Technical team and offer either full designs or partial designs, these can be used to bring efficiency to your projects by utilising an existing design to kick start your project
  • Modify an existing reference design - a large portion of our available reference designs can be modified using our Avail design tool, this tool allows users to customise the reference design, changing existing components or adding components to your design from our extensive parts catalogue, once the design is completed you can view the BOM, and export the CAD designs to be used in your EDA tool.
  • Create your own design – you can use the Avail design tool to start your design from a blank canvas, selecting components from our extensive parts catalogue.
  • Access Engineering calculators – within the Design tools menu we have a large selection of commonly used engineering calculators, these are available to use free of charge.
  • Access Manufacturer tools – within the design tools menu we have a large selection of our supplier partner tools, these tools are hand selected by Avnet’s technical team as they believe will bring value to engineers in their development.
  • My Designs – this section allows signed-in users access to their saved designs for easy access, this section is only accessible by the signed-in user.
  • BOM tools – once the user have created a BOM from a reference design or a design they created they can view the BOM within our BOM tool page, this section provides users the ability to view alternatives and swap them into the design if needed, look at the parts datasheet, order prototype parts from our partners Farnell, check the health of the listed parts or request a high volume quote.
  • Engineering communities: within the home page of Design Hub we provide access to Element 14 and Hackster.io, these two companies are owned by Avnet and provide users access to a vast knowledge base across multiple applications, solutions and technologies and is used extensively by our engineering community to find solutions and solve challenges in a community basis.
