Accelerate your Business Processes with an Avnet API

In a fast-changing environment real time information is crucial. The fastest way of communication is between systems that are connected. An API (Application Program Interface) allows communication between systems and exchange of information on demand, in real time. Think of it as a messenger that delivers a request from your system to Avnet´s system and then delivers the response back. This will allow you to request among other information Price and Availability information directly from your system and get data back from Avnet instantly and in the coming months you will be seeing additional API service.

Avnet currently offers a Direct API as well as APIs via 3rd party platforms including Circuitbyte (BOM Connector), CalcuQuote, Bay-Soft, BuyManager (a SupplyFrame company), and Luminovo. Click here to see all.

New API Portal

In June 2025 Avnet launched a new API Portal for providing access to its APIs. This new, global portal will provide customers with the benefits of advanced security through our use of OAuth verification and an expanded portfolio of API services. If you already have an API connection, you will be informed via Avnet and/or your 3rd party vendor so that you can seamlessly transition to service via the new Avnet API Portal during the course of calendar 2025. If you have questions or want to request a new API access, please

What is the difference between API and EDI?

Both API and EDI can serve as a way of automating the transfer of information between businesses. EDI has been in use in the industry for decades, and with its agreed standard messaging and legal standing, is well placed for transferring production (ERP) information connected with supply chain management. APIs with their flexibility and speed of implementation, provide the opportunity to share a much broader breadth of product and business information that can be used in a number of systems and processes.

For what businesses does an API make sense

The use of API makes sense for any business that needs fast access to large amount of product information for supporting activities such as Bill of Material (BOM) pricing to support new designs, re-pricing of running design, new business bid for bid or bid for by and shortage managements.

Time to implement an API Service

Typically an API can be implemented in one to two weeks dependent on the type of connection (3rd party or direct), availability of the customers resources, and any required software being at the proper version level (3rd party).

As a part of this implementation process we also normally would like to meet with you to agree our mutual understanding of the data being exchanged, and agree any relevant follow-up sales process. And of course after the implementation we will be speaking with you about any question you might have.

Save time and cost by connecting with Avnet API.
