TVS - Transient Voltage Suppression

The Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) device is designed to react to sudden or momentary overvoltage conditions. The voltage transients are the short duration surges of electrical energy and are the result of the sudden release of energy previously stored or induced by other means, such as heavy inductive loads or lightning, hence TVS devices or components are designed for protection against very fast and often damaging voltage spikes.
